Getting better ranking for your Fiverr gigs: A case study

In the last couple of weeks I saw many questions about how to rank better in Fiverr search. At first, I advised everyone to get 100% feedback from some sales, so that Fiverr will boost the gig’s rankings and you get more orders.
Last week I decided to run a test that would prove my advice, because I wasn’t one hundred percent sure the Fiverr search works this way. I did a little research on the Internet before creating some gigs, to make sure I’d use the common methods of other people.
I chose these three ways that I wanted to test.
1. Create a gig and buy some fake orders to get 100% feedback
2. Leave the gig for natural rankings plus advertise it
3. Keyword stuff the gig and no other promotion
After one week I saw exactly what was happening. The results were clear and surprising too. So I’ll summarize it with some comments on each method.
1. I added a gig with my own Fiverr account and purchased 5 fake orders. I than gave the seller, still me, 100% positive feedback, and left comments for the future visitors. Then I bookmarked the gig 400+ times to get exposure. In one week I got 2 sales.
2. In this method I decided not to do anything with the gig itself, and I only purchased two gigs as an advertisement. In the first gig the seller tweeted my link 10 times in 5 days, and in the second gig the seller put my link on his two forums. As the last thing, I bookmarked the gig 400+ times. In one week I got 3 sales.
3. I decided to find out if the Fiverr search lists the results according to keyword density. After some research I created a special account with the main keyword as the username, included the keyword in the title, and mentioned it two times in the first lines in the gig description. The rest was content for people. No other promotion to this gig. Just simple keyword stuffing. In one week I got 11 sales.
I was impressed. Although Fiverr says the gigs are not ranked according to keyword density, the reality is different. One thing I would like to point out is that we are talking about the “Auto” search. Sure, to get into listing sorted by ratings takes more satisfied customers than 5 fake orders, and keyword stuffing doesn’t work (however it can help).
My conclusion of this test is that keyword stuffing matters, in order to rank higher in the Fiverr search. But don’t forget to attract your customers with relevant and catchy title and description. The ranking is only the first step to promote your service and get orders.

Great info!
I’d like to ask how the count of how many people have starred your gigs counts in order to give you more view, sales?
Hey xypoon,
Thanks for your comment. From what I’ve read and seen the better your feedback the better your rankings in the rating section of Fiverr search. And by feedback I mean the number of orders, the positive percentage of your feedback, the number of stars you got. I believe this is how Fiverr decides who is the top seller and who is not.
This article was more about the “auto” search and it seems that you don’t need stars, feedback, orders, in order to be in the top 5 positions.
Hope it helps in some way.
Hi
thanks for the information, I have a couple of gigs on Fiverr and had a few sales but nothing much even though they have 100% feedback and I promote so maybe I will try better Keywords and see if that increases my sales
Regards
Pauline
Gigs rank purely based on the number of positive feedbacks.
I’m an insider
Hi there!
Nice article, i think that fiverr search is starting to being mysterious like google, because, in search based in ranking, outrank me gigs that dont have even 5% of my feedback, i have 1300+ positive, and 0 negative, and there are gigs with 11 positive that outrank me, sick. I understand that its not always feedback, its also late delivery, cancelation etc, but so much?
I contacted support and they have done nothing, like always.
Great Article..!!
